Day 16: $$$ LAS VEGAS $$$ (part 1)

Today was the pillow fight day, I saw on CNN people pillow fighting in front of Wall Street...
By the way, I have bought a Rubik’s cube in L.A. and tried to solve it. I think I have to exercise my brain a little! I’m not very successful for the moment. At first I thought I would only turn it a few times then do everything in reverse so my cube would remain in its original shape. I think I missed something because now it’s a complete mess. Ok, I know there is a trick but I don’t know it and I haven’t found it yet… I’ll keep you posted if I ever find the solution.

I drove to Las Vegas, it was a long trip: 304 miles. Nothing special to mention, the Interstate 15 crossing the California/Nevada border is quite boring. It’s a straight portion of highway. Hereafter some pictures.

Here you can see when I cross the Nevada border. Immediately after, there is a casino...

I stayed at the Luxor hotel in Las Vegas. It’s a pyramid shaped hotel, very cool if you stay in the pyramid. And I had booked a non-smoking room in the pyramid, of course. The problem is, when I arrived, the only rooms left in the pyramid were smoking ones. And you all know I don’t like the smell of cigarettes. So they put me in one of the two towers adjacent to the pyramid. I was on the first floor (i.e. ground floor) so there was absolutely no view at all…

At night, there is a gigantic ray of light coming from the top of the pyramid.

Hereafter, a picture of the sunset taken from the hotel parking lot. The mountains are in the background.

Anyway, I walked on the strip at night. It is really overcrowded. I read somewhere that there are some 15.000 miles of neon tubes on the Vegas strip!!! There were also gigantic ads for the Miss USA contest that will be held in Vegas on April 19th. Apparently, the most intelligent,… er sorry, the most beautiful (siliconed) creatures of every US state will gather in Vegas in two weeks! Youhouuuuuu! Maybe I’ll see that on TV… They were even shooting little movies for the contest in front of the Caesars Palace. I saw Miss District of Columbia, a very nice sleek black panther in a white bikini.

Now, something special for the gentlemen reading my blog. When you walk on the strip, you’ll see lots of Mexicans in an orange T-shirt. They will give you a bunch of little cards, with the pictures and phone number of naked ladies (believe me, these bitches do lots of things in these pictures; I’m not going to tell you what, just try to have some imagination…). All you have to do is give a phone call and open your wallet, and the selected girl will arrive at your hotel room in 20 minutes or less…

Also, smoking is allowed everywhere in Las Vegas. That’s a big change from Hawaii or California. There, you cannot smoke if you are less than 20 feet from a door/window of any public building (that's the law). See next picture, taken in Santa Monica (L.A.).

Here in Vegas, you can do whatever you want. The craziest things I’ve seen are people playing slot machines with a cigarette in one hand and a glass of alcohol in the other. Real addicts…

Anyway, I’ll come back here next week when I return from Bryce canyon. More infos about Las Vegas next week.
