Day 17: from Las Vegas to Grand Canyon (updated)

First, I had to cross Hoover Dam. Many people visit this gigantic dam, which houses a hydroelectric plant (supplying both Nevada and Arizona), so I was caught in a nasty traffic jam. However, it gave me some time to admire Lake Mead!

When you cross Hoover Dam, you arrive in Arizona. Hereafter a picture of Hoover Dam and a picture of the Arizona welcome sign.

Then you drive for about 250 miles… It’s long, but there aren’t so many cars so you can drive quite fast. You can see some large truck carrying heavy loads. I even saw a military airplane wing being transported! I didn’t have time to take a picture of that however. So here’s a big pipe instead…

I stopped in Seligman. The Route 66 crosses Arizona and Seligman is a stop on this famous Route! I continued on the highway. Next time, I’ll do the Route 66.

At the end of the day, I arrived in Grand Canyon, just in time to see the sunset.
